چکیده
This paper presents a 52-to-57 GHz CMOS quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator (QVCO) with novel I/Q phase tuning technique based on body bias control method. The QVCO employs an in-phase injection-coupling (IPIC) network comprising four diode-connected FETs for the generation. error is calibrated by controlling voltage offset of QVCO’s core FETs. effectively covers wide range between −13.4° and +10.7°. It also minimally induces unwanted variations in noise, current dissipation, oscillation frequency, which were found to be only 0.4 dB, 0.07%, 36 MHz, respectively. After IPIC-QVCO, phase-tunable two-stage LO buffer employing 3-bit switched-capacitor bank was added additional tuning, leading extension up −22.7–+20.0°. proposed implemented 40 nm RF process. measured results show that frequency band from 52.4 57.6 while consuming 26.2 mW. noise figure-of-merit are −91.8 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz −172.4 dBc/Hz, We realized fully integrated 55 transmitter generator. effectiveness generator confirmed verifying image rejection ratio (IRR) calibration output.

Phase and Quadrature Pulsed Bias LC-CMOS VCO
Pulsed bias is an attempt to improve the performance of oscillators in integrated circuits as a result of architectural innovation. Given the relatively low value of resonator quality factor achievable on-chip, for a specified bias voltage level, pulsed bias may result in a lower power consumption and in an improvement of the spectral purity of the oscillation. The main drawback of this approac...
متن کاملA Low-Phase-Noise 5-GHz CMOS Quadrature VCO Using Superharmonic Coupling
A new concept for quadrature coupling of oscillators is introduced and demonstrated on a 5-GHz CMOS voltagecontrolled oscillator (VCO). It uses the second harmonic of the outputs to couple the oscillators. The technique provides quadrature over a wide tuning range without introducing any increase in phase noise or power consumption. The VCO is tunable between 4.57 and 5.21 GHz and has a phase n...

A wide-tuning monolithic LC-tuned VCO is presented. The proposed VCO accomplishes wide tuning by utilizing binary weighted switched varactor combinations operating at minimum or maximum value, in addition to a linearly varying interpolation varactor. Measurements show 74% of tuning at a range of 1.56–2.71 GHz, with the phase noise ranging from 136 dBc/Hz to 108 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. The VCO i...
